Gino’s Studio 25 Sacramento
If your fitness preferences fall more towards the traditional weight training, Studio 25 is a great spot. Gino is the owner and while he looks like he could rip a bus in half, he is one of the nicest people you’ll meet. The gym is small but full of great old school equipment. There’s weights, benches, a few machines, lots of jump boxes and a huge sand pit for throwing around tires. Honestly though, what makes the place great is Gino. He cares about functional fitness, and wants his clients to become the best possible versions of themselves. Keep in mind though, this is no easy cupcake workout. Gino expects you to work. He also expects you to take command of your fitness. His job is to tell you what to do and keep you safe. Your job is to do it. But he isn’t a baby sitter. If you want an easy workout that won’t have any results, I’m sure 24 fitness is running a special that includes a free gym bag.

Sac Fitness Fairy
Finally, if you’re looking for a personal trainer that will take you from wherever you are and turn you into a fit, capable human being, your best bet is The Sac Fitness Fairy. She’s tiny, she’s lean, she’s mean. She’s certified in every methodology out there. She trains MMA champions, professional athletes of all types. And, you lucky dog you, she might just take you on as a project. She did for me, and I went from overweight & under fit to a marathon runner who looks forward to doing pull-ups. Do you want that? You know you do. Call her, make an appointment. She trains almost anywhere. No excuses. If she can fix me, she can fix anyone.

Emma Archer (Online Course)
But what if you’re not in the Sacramento area? Well, here’s a pretty damn good alternative. Emma Archer is a personal trainer with a particular interest in strength training. Also a keen runner and kettlebell instructor, she is passionate about promoting strength training amongst women. With a medical background from her previous career path, Emma enjoys applying scientific research to training and coaching. She has an online strength training course for women that is a super solid guide to the basics you need to get strong, including nutrition advice. It is around $29 (depending on the conversion rate from British Pound to Dollar) and well worth it. If you don’t have the option to get a personal trainer, or the cash, this definitely is a great alternative.
