Recipe: Toffee Dip

Sacramento’s Carmichael Dave shared a killer dip recipe with us on Twitter so I thought I would respond in kind with my own “crack dip”. This one is a doozy, and healthy since it includes apples! Just kidding, this sucker might kill you, but what a way to go!

Ingredients:
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup powered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 8oz block of cream cheese (fat content up to you)
3/4 cup of your favorite toffee/chocolate bits (you can buy a bar and just mallet the sucker)
1 cup pineapple juice
A bunch of apples. I like granny smith since they’re crispy & are a nice contrast to an otherwise very sweet dip, but any firm apple works.

1) Combine the brown & powdered sugar, the vanilla & the cream cheese in a bowl. Mix them smooth with a mixer, or with a whisk if you have Popeye’s forearms. Add the toffee bits & fold them in. Cover & chill.

2) Pour the pineapple juice over the apples in a bowl & toss to cover. Drain apples, then serve immediately with dip.

It would not be ethical for me to suggest other additions to this dip, such as crumbled, honey baked bacon. Because, come on, that would just be… um. I think I need to go to the market.
